Natural History Night Walk

Explore the rainforest after dark and discover the hidden world of nocturnal wildlife

As the sun sets, the rainforest transforms into a completely different ecosystem where many species become active under the cover of darkness.

This expedition offers the opportunity to observe and learn about the remarkable diversity of nocturnal wildlife found in the rainforests of Costa Rica.

The Experience
After dinner, guests are picked up at their hotel in a 4x4 vehicle and driven into a pristine rainforest environment.

For approximately two hours, your naturalist guide will lead the group along a slow-flowing creek and through the surrounding forest using flashlights to locate wildlife.

Nighttime offers one of the best opportunities to observe creatures such as tree frogs, snakes, insects, mammals and sleeping birds.

The sounds of the rainforest at night create a unique atmosphere while your guide interprets the natural history of the species that inhabit this ecosystem.

This expedition provides a rare perspective on the nocturnal world of the tropical rainforest.
