Caño Island Marine Expedition

11.png

Snorkeling and scuba diving in one of Costa Rica’s most pristine marine reserves

This ocean expedition explores the pristine marine reserve surrounding Caño Island Biological Reserve, one of Costa Rica’s most important protected marine ecosystems.

Located offshore from the Osa Peninsula, the island is known for its exceptional water clarity and vibrant underwater life, offering some of the country’s most rewarding snorkeling and diving conditions.

The Experience
The experience begins with a scenic boat transfer across the Pacific waters toward Caño Island. During the journey, our guides remain attentive to seasonal marine wildlife that may appear along the way, including dolphins, sea turtles, and, during certain months of the year, migrating whales.

Upon arrival at the protected reserve, guests enjoy two guided snorkeling or diving sessions led by our experienced divemaster and naturalist guide.

The volcanic rock formations surrounding the island create ideal conditions for coral growth and reef development, supporting a remarkable diversity of marine life. These reefs are home to schools of tropical fish, rays, reef sharks, sea turtles, and a wide variety of colorful coral formations that thrive in the protected waters of the reserve.

Between water sessions, guests can relax aboard the boat while enjoying fresh tropical fruits and snacks as the guide shares insights into the marine ecology of the region.

The expedition concludes with a return journey to the mainland.
