Sloth Safari & Hidden

Waterfall Expedition

9.png

A private wildlife experience in the coastal rainforest of Uvita.

This experience offers a relaxed and immersive exploration of a vibrant coastal rainforest corridor where secondary forest, mangrove ecosystems, and pristine Pacific shoreline create one of the most suitable habitats for sloths in the region.

The Experience
Our morning begins with a private wildlife walk led by one of our experienced naturalist guides. The exploration takes place within a regenerating secondary forest, where the canopy structure is naturally lower than in primary rainforest. This environment is particularly favorable for sloths, as it supports an abundance of Cecropia trees—one of their preferred food sources—and allows for more intimate observation opportunities within the forest canopy.

As we move slowly along quiet forest paths, your guide will interpret the unique relationship between the surrounding ecosystems. The nearby mangrove forest regulates humidity and temperature, while the coastal influence and young forest growth create ideal feeding and resting conditions for both two-toed and three-toed sloths.

Because of the lower canopy typical of this secondary forest, wildlife sightings often occur at closer and more comfortable viewing distances, offering exceptional opportunities to observe these remarkable mammals in their natural habitat.

Along the way, the forest reveals a variety of other wildlife that thrives in this transitional environment. Tropical birds, frogs, butterflies, and small rainforest species are commonly encountered.

After the wildlife exploration, we continue with a scenic 25-minute drive through the surrounding countryside toward a secluded waterfall hidden within the forest. A short and manageable walk leads to the falls, where guests may enjoy the natural pool and, conditions permitting, take a refreshing swim.

The excursion concludes with a relaxed gourmet lunch.
