Sierpe Wetland Mangrove Experience
A boat expedition through one of the largest mangrove ecosystems in Central America
This expedition explores the Sierpe River wetlands, one of the largest mangrove forest systems in Central America and a wetland of international importance. These mangrove ecosystems serve as essential nurseries for fish, crustaceans and countless other species.
The Experience
Guests are picked up at their hotel or previously arranged location and transported to the town of Sierpe where the boat will be waiting.
From there, your captain and expedition leader guide you through a maze of mangrove canals and waterways.
These wetlands provide habitat for a wide variety of wildlife including crocodiles, sloths, monkeys and numerous bird species. Herons, kingfishers, macaws, toucans and ibises are frequently seen along the riverbanks as the boat navigates quietly through the mangrove forest.
After the expedition, guests may relax or enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants in the small town of Sierpe before returning to their hotel.
